Founded in Santa Fe in 2016, Vaivén is a Flamenco-Jazz fusion trio featuring internationally acclaimed flamenco guitarist Calvin Hazen, along with Jon Gagan, upright and electric bass; and Robby Rothschild, percussion. Calvin Hazen recently returned to New Mexico after living and working in Madrid, Spain for 20 years where he performed at some of the renowned Flamenco Tablaos. He has also performed at some of the most prestigious theatres worldwide, including Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center, and Teatro Nacional in Mexico City. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America and has worked as musical director and composer for Carlota Santana Flamenco Vivo and Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco. He performed on Spanish pop icon, Pablo Alboran's recording, Terral, a 5-time platinum selling album that enjoyed 11 straight weeks as Spain's number one selling record. Jon Gagan is best known as the bassist/arranger for Ottmar Liebert. He has received four Grammy nominations and toured worldwide and has performed and/or recorded with Milt Jackson, Nat Adderley, Dave Grusin, Kenny Davern, Judy Collins, and many others. Robby Rothschild, one of two brothers in the Santa Fe based duo, Round Mountain (performing May 5 at Outpost) is a multi-instrumentalist who has traveled the world and performed with such artists as Thomas Mapfumo, Guinean griot Prince Diabate, and Kip Winger. He has studied in Mali, Paris, and Ireland, as well as at the New England Conservatory of Music. $20/$15 Members & Students
