The Jones Family Singers-five sisters, two brothers and their father- have been tearing up churches and festivals alike for over two decades. "Modern practitioners of a long musical tradition, infusing joyful and reverent songs with vintage soul, funk and R&B," (Wall Street Journal) the Texas-based gospel powerhouse group's high energy, dynamic and compelling performances have brought them to festivals, clubs, concert series and community celebrations world-wide. Austin Chronicle wrote, "This three-generational gospel collective is "the living embodiment of the indelible connection between the black church and its rock and soul offspring," while the New York Times declared, "It was all joyful praise, brilliantly timed with one crescendo after another." Their latest release, 2015's Live from Mt. Zion, features a nine-track collection recorded over two days at the Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Markham, TX. The album was described by Lone Star Sounds as "riveting-you can practically feel the sweat beading on every track." The JFS were featured in a documentary by Austin filmmaker Alan Berg who, in 2012, was inspired by the artistry of the band that he witnessed onstage along with their compelling family dynamic. The documentary explores the band's triumphs as well as its tribulations. Besides churches, nightclubs, concert series and music festivals, the JFS have also brought their powerful musical ministry to prisons, interfaith events and community celebrations.
