Bitches Brew Revisited

Miles Davis’ 1970 release, Bitches Brew, changed the course of modern music. In perhaps the most daring and brilliant of the many musical shifts that characterized the trumpet legend’s career, Miles assembled an explosive combination of the finest improvising musicians at that moment and gave them a fiercely modernis—and electric—directive that produced a jarring change from all that had preceded it. Now, 40 years later, some of the finest musicians in contemporary jazz are joining forces to pay tribute to this musical moment as well as to present some of their own original music. “While the soul of the master is manifest in the project, the music stretches out into otherworldly territory, becoming whatever it was Davis intended in 1969: spacious, black-magic stealth funk.” (NY Times) Bitches Brew Revisited features an all-star band comprising Graham Haynes, cornet; James Blood Ulmer, guitar; Marco Benevento, keyboards; DJ Logic, turntables/samples; Antoine Roney, bass clarinet/saxes; Melvin Gibbs, bass; Cindy Blackman, drums; and Adam Rudolph, percussion.
