Outpost Productions is proud to assist in the presentation of the World Famous Count Basie Orchestra directed by Mr. Bill Hughes and featuring Butch Miles on drums. This performance will benefit the Rio Rancho High School Band program. With 17 Grammy awards, 2 Grammy Hall of Fame Awards, and 9 Downbeat Readers and Critics Poll Awards, the Count Basie Orchestra, founded in the 1930s, is one of the most renowned and longest-lasting bands in the history of jazz. The band’s 19 musicians have grown up with the Kansas City Swing style of Count Basie adding their own voices to that unique sound. Several members were hired by the legendary Count Basie himself before he passed away in 1984.The band still tours extensively worldwide spreading the highly identifiable and swingin’ Count Basie musical heritage.
