The Michael Anthony Trio with Kanoa Kaluhiwa

The Michael Anthony Trio features three of Albuquerque’s finest. For this concert they will pay tribute to the music of Bill Evans as well as perform selections from their CDs, including their latest, Sands of Time, which was released last fall and is a dedication to Anthony’s first guitar teacher, Jimmy Wyble. Joining the trio tonight will be tenor saxophonist, Kanoa Kaluhiwa. Since moving to New Mexico in 1980, Michael Anthony has been one of the most respected guitarists on the scene. In Los Angeles he worked in studios and with Blue Mitchell, Hubert Laws, the Louie Belson Orchestra, and Quincy Jones, and played with the Gil Evans Orchestra and Miles Davis at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Anthony has recorded eight CDs and two Jazz Guitar books published with Mel Bay. Isleta Pueblo native, Rob “Milo” Jaramillo, has been performing for over 20 years. Adept on either acoustic or electric bass, he is equally comfortable playing jazz, Latin, R&B, rock, world music, or reggae. Drummer and teacher Andrew Poling has performed with Bob Hope, Kathie Lee Gifford, Sid Caesar, Steve Allen, the New Mexico Symphony and many jazz artists including Clark Terry, Kenny Davern, Howard Alden, and Dianne Reeves.
