Joshua Breakstone Trio

with Earl Sauls & John Trentacosta

joshua

Bop-based guitarist, Joshua Breakstone has been recognized for his "impeccably clean and fiery" style and fluid single-note solos. Downbeat wrote, “There is no shortage of young, knock-out jazz guitarists these days. Joshua Breakstone is among the best of them.” Breakstone discovered jazz when he was 14 upon hearing Lee Morgan and Charlie Parker. He attended the Berklee College of Music where he received a degree in jazz studies. In 1977 he made his recording debut and from 1979-1981 he taught guitar at the Rhode Island Conservatory of Music, during which time he also worked in New York with Warne Marsh, Emily Remler, Dave Schnitter, and Vic Juris.  He has released more than 15 CDs as a leader and has toured regularly throughout the US and Japan. Tonight’s concert is a reunion for these three musicians who have a long history together. In addition to Breakstone, it’s Earl Sauls, bass; and Santa Fe’s own John Trentacosta, drums.
