La Juerga Flamenco Ensemble

La Juerga Flamenco Ensemble features some of the finest young flamenco artists working and studying in New Mexico today. In this evening’s performance they will present their original pieces, as well as improvisations which in many ways showcase Flamenco in its purest form. Literally, Juerga means “party!—a gathering of friends and family getting together to play music and dance.”La Juerga Ensemble and its members can be seen and heard working around Albuquerque and Santa Fe in venues—formal and informal—such as Blackbird Buvette, Ben Michael's Café, Cosmo Tapas, Marble Brewery and more. They recently returned from a tour in Texas. The members of the troupe have worked and studied with such renowned artists as dancers Eva Encinias Sandoval, Maria Benítez & Carlota Santana; cantaores, Alfonoso “El Veneno” Gabarri and Jose Fernández from Spain; or guitarists, Jason McGuire, Kalvin Hazen and Anton Jiménez. La Juerga comprises dancers Illeana Gómez, Jesus Muñoz, & Kayla Lyall; cantaor, Meagan Chandler; guitarists Mario Febres & Alejandro Pais Iriart; and percussionist Gabriel Fose.
