Vienna Teng

presented in partnership with AMP Concerts

vienna teng

Vienna Teng is a singer/songwriter?whose literate songwriting, classically influenced piano playing, and lush, stirring vocals, also feature orchestral touches and Middle Eastern rhythms.  She often tours with small combos containing violin and/or cello? as she did at her first Albuquerque appearance (a Bosque House Concert in 2004) and as she will tonight. The multi-talented Teng released her debut CD Waking Hour while receiving a Computer Science degree at Stanford. After working in Silicon Valley she re-focused her energy full-time on music, leading to a second CD, Warm Strangers and the opportunity to tour with Joan Baez, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin and Marc Cohn. She hooked up with producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux) and former members of the Tin Hat Trio, for her third album, Dreaming Through the Noise. Her CD, Inland Territory, is due to be released soon. The San Jose Mercury News calls Teng “a child of Chopin and Sarah McLachlan.”
