Creative Soundspace Fall Festival:
The Coltrane Legacy Here & Abroad
For the first time Outpost presents a Fall version of the Creative Soundspace Festival this year concentrating on the Legacy of John Coltrane. First, Coltrane drummer Rashied Ali and his quintet perform on October 4. And then on October 6th it’s Accra Trane Station— a group led by Nii Noi Nortey and Nii Otoo Annan from Ghana—which has been deeply inspired by the late work of John Coltrane of which Rashied Ali was an intrinsic part. Friday morning, October 5 at 10am, Accra Trane Station will present a free concert featuring their unique blend of invented and traditional African instruments to Albuquerque students. A special two concert price (Rashied Ali and ATS) is available for $25/$20 Members by phone or in person at the Outpost Performance Space (268-0044)
The Creative Soundspace Festival is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
