Jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, John Pizzarelli is known internationally for his swinging interpretations of jazz standards, as well as for his own songs which have achieved something of a modern “standard” status in their own right. He is among the prime contemporary interpreters of the great American songbook, bringing to the work his signature style and brilliant guitar playing, following in the tradition of his father, guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli. A veteran radio personality, Pizzarelli hosted New York Tonight on WNEW from 1984-1988 and recently launched Radio Deluxe with John Pizzarelli, a nationally syndicated radio program co-hosted with his wife, Broadway star Jessica Molaskey. In addition to being a bandleader, radio personality and solo performer, he has been a special guest on recordings for major pop stars such as James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Rickie Lee Jones and Dave Von Ronk, as well as leading jazz artists like Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Johnny Frigo, Buddy DeFranco, Harry Allen and his father, Bucky Pizzarelli. With his 2006 release, Dear Mr. Sinatra, an homage to Frank Sinatra, Pizzarelli now boasts 21 CDs. He was recently featured opposite Donna Summer, Jon Secada and Roberta Flack on the Grammy Award winning CD, Songs From The Neighborhood: The Music of Mr. Rogers. Pizzarelli and his band have earned rave reviews, with reviewers often comparing him to jazz icons such as Nat “King” Cole. For Pizzarelli, the comparison to the Nat “King” Cole Trio is the highest of compliments. “I’ve always said in my concerts that Nat ‘King’ Cole is why I do what I do.” Pizzarelli continues to tour throughout the United States, Europe and Japan, performing classic pop, jazz and swing, while setting the standard for stylish modern jazz. Accompanying John Pizzarelli on piano will be Larry Fuller, who has performed with Harry “Sweets” Edison, Stanley Turrentine, Phil Woods, Clark Terry, Herb Ellis, Kevin Mahogany, Bennie Golson, Emily Remler, Jimmy Witherspoon, Eddie Harris, Anita O’Day, Steve Allen, Regina Carter, Nicholas Payton and others. On bass is John Pizzarelli’s youger brother, Martin Pizzarelli, who has performed worldwide for many years with the Quartet. Rounding out the quartet is drummer Tony Tedesco who has played with Pizzarelli since 1998. Tedesco has parlayed his experience as a New York freelance artist into a career that encompasses many facets of the music world. He has backed various performers from Vic Damone and Lilias White, to jazz artists Harry “Sweets” Edison and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis.
