Chris Ishee Trio
Tim Zannes Quartet

Summer Thursday Jazz Nights
Sponsored by Southwest Gastroenterology Associates, PC

Santa Fe based pianist & keyboardist Chris Ishee performs with his trio throughout the Southwest. As music director at Santa Fe Preparatory School, he is in demand as a jazz educator and clinician. Prior to moving to New Mexico in 1994, Ishee toured as keyboardist for trumpeter Maynard Ferguson, singer Engelbert Humperdinck, Latin singer Alvaro Torres, and others. In New Mexico he performed for several years with the Jono Manson Band as well as with Frank Morgan, Kenny Davern, Bud Shank, Bo Diddley, Eddie Daniels, and Blues Traveller. Joining Ishee tonight will be Luis Guerra, bass and Pete Amahl, drums. In the second set of the evening, saxophonist Tim Zannes will join the Trio.

Born in Buffalo NY in 1952, Tim Zannes grew up in Cleveland. He studied music at the New England Conservatory with Joe Allard and Robert Brink and later with Jerry Bergonzi. In 1998 he played the Blue Note in NYC with Richard Wyands, John Webber and Leroy Williams—a performance which became one of the Blue Note’s early web casts. In 2006, his CD, You/Me had three cuts on the ITUNES Japan top 50 downloads list for several months with one cut making it to Number 8 in the Jazz and Blues category. Jazz Review.com review called his CD, The Tunnel “a quintessential saxophone quartet recording… one of the best you are ever likely to hear”.
