Grammy-nominated guitarist/composer/arranger, Anthony Wilson is one of the leading jazz musicians of his generation. He has recorded six solo albums since 1997. His most recent, Power of Nine was included in The New Yorker’s Top Ten jazz recordings of the year. A sensitive and gifted accompanist as well as a formidable soloist, Wilson has been an indispensable member of Diana Krall’s band since 2001. Wilson won the Thelonious Monk Institute International Composers’ Competition in 1995 and has received numerous commissions for small and large scale works.
One of the leading figures in new Brazilian music, guitarist/composer/arranger Chico Pinheiro was born in Sao Paulo where he was drawn to musics ranging from Brazilian to classical, jazz and progressive rock. He attended Berklee College of Music, studying with legendary teachers Mick Goodrick and Hal Crook. Now 33, Chico has already performed and recorded with the “cream” of Brazilian artists including Chico César, Rosa Passos, Luciana Souza, Dori and Danilo Caymmi, João Donato, and César Camargo Mariano. His debut albums Meia Noite Meio Dia and Chico Pinheiro have enjoyed wide critical and audience acclaim. Wilson and Pinheiro recently recorded a CD, NOVA, due out in April 2007.
