Creative Soundspace Festival

This 3rd Annual three day festival grew out of the Albuquerque Improv Fest which we presented in 2003 (featuring a number of local groups plus the Evan Parker Trio). It also grew out of years of presenting adventurous music here at The Space. Our goal: to honor the fertile creative music scene which thrives in New Mexico and to honor some of the other scenes around the country as well— to combine the work of New Mexico residents with some of the touring artists of like minds. We hope this festival will encourage people to check out the exciting and organic music being created by numerous individuals day in and day out, year after year, throughout the world. This year, for the first time we received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of the Creative Soundspace Festival. We thank the NEA, and with this support we will be offering outreach activities (such as J.A. Deane’s Conduction Workshop for youth on Sunday at 2pm) as well as a second Creative Soundspace Weekend in the fall.
